Murder Over New York (1940)

This is probably one of the better Charlie Chan movies in the series. Not only do we have a pretty good supporting cast with one of the actors from Room Service playing the police chief. I can’t remember his name, but he’s always entertaining to watch in supporting roles. We also have Shemp with a cameo appearance as a Muslim guy. As usual for the early 1940s it’s all about sabotage and spy thriller stuff. We also get a great scene, maybe the best scene, certainly from an action point, that I have ever seen in a Charlie Chan movie when a plane flies into the sky with everybody on board and when it makes a power dive one of the characters grabs a gas bomb with some supposed poison in it. If you want to watch a Charlie Chan movie at least once, this is a good one to try out.

I am a writer and avid movie watcher (used to be music listener but I got bored of that).
