Go West (1940)

This is probably one of the more serious Marx Brothers movies. Most of it is focused on plot and action. As a matter of fact this is probably the most structured Marx movie the brothers ever did. That being said, this isn’t a boring movie and there are plenty of laughs provided in this. The train finale at the end is great and has many jokes and slapstick moments. Groucho probably has the best line in the movie when Harpo pours what he thinks is water into the smokestack of the engine to slow it down so some friends of theirs can catch up with them but it’s actually kerosene and the train accelerates. Groucho says, “If that’s water, I’m glad I don’t touch the stuff.” This made me laugh quite a lot.
